Miami Design District: Art Basel’s Party Hot Spot

The Miami Design District and Jackie Soffer (http://www.miamiherald.com/news/business/biz-monday/article1962757.html) welcomed a Fashion’s Night Out Soiree earlier this month in honor of the infamous Art Basel. An exclusive gathering that catered to those with a love of fashion and art. Loewe, Fendi, Louis Vuitton and Armani are a few of the notable designers that took part in hosting store parties.

There was a collaborative exhibit from Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch that embodied figurative painting and sculpture. The art spoke for itself as gatherers soaked in the ambiance of ingenuity. Gagosians graciousness was front and center as he welcomed fans to pose with him at the Moore Building. Another noteworthy exhibit was provided by Jonathan Anderson for his namesake foundation. “Chance Encounters” was a curated segment at the hands of Jonathan Anderson.

The soirees didn’t stop at Art Basel. You had Hermès celebrating the artist Julio Le Parc. His prints were transposed onto Hermès signature silk scarves. Miami, the emerging city that invites celebrity sightings, was graced with the likes of Elle Macpherson. Nearby W Magazine and Roberto Cavalli also celebrated the Rubell Family Collection “No Man’s Land,” an exhibit that showcased the work of over 100 female artists.

The festivities didn’t end there. The Faena Hotel threw a party. The hotel has a Gatsby inspired aesthetic that can be seen in the minute details. It was a significant investment that included a redesigned by film director Baz Luhrmann and his wife and costume designer Catherine Martin.

Armani had waited to celebrate their one-year-old store at Basel. The celebrations coincided with the new book release “Giorgio Armani” by Rizzoli New York. Its 400 images were edited by Armani himself and there is a plan in place to donate the royalties to UNICEF.

The gathering was a conglomeration of fashion, art and the finer luxuries life has to offer. The night was a celebration of freedom that only comes with the nuances that art leaves behind and the everlasting style that fashion brings forth. Art Basel is an enriching experience that embodies culture and inspiration. It left wanting, an aching as many eagerly anticipate the next exhibit and soirees.
