NYC Gala Season Kick-Off

With The Frick Collections annual Autumn Dinner on September 28th, so begins New York City’s gala season. This year’s dinner was in honor of Sidney R. Knafel who in addition to being a Managing Partner at SRK Management Company, is also a benefactor of The Juilliard School and Wellesley College. The Dinner is held in the galleries of the museum itself, in the century old 70th street mansion of its namesake Henry Clay Frick. As such the dinner is intimate and has a feeling of “coziness” as described by attendee David Leuschen. Leuschen and his wife Akexia are habitual attendees of the dinner and avid benefactors of the Frick Collection. SI: History of NYC Basketball

In anticipation of this weekend’s All-Star activities at Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center, the NBA has released an interactive map that tells the history of New York City basketball.

The map is shockingly comprehensive, covering everything from storied high school teams like Power Academy in Manhattan and Christ the King and Archbishop Molloy in Queens, to the hospital where Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn.
